A Birthday Tradition Filled with Meaning
Some sessions hold more than just moments — they hold memories, legacies, and love that runs deep. This family session with Ally, Tre, and their son Damari took place at Studio 1918 in Salt Lake City, a cozy space filled with soft light and warmth that perfectly suited the occasion: celebrating Damari turning four.
I’ve photographed Ally and Tre before — a few years back, we created magic out at Little Sahara. Coming together again for this milestone felt like reconnecting with old friends. Ally has made it a tradition to celebrate each of Damari’s birthdays with family photos, a way to freeze time as he grows and capture the joy that comes with every new year.
Light, Laughter, and Love
Inside Studio 1918, the morning light poured in beautifully — soft and golden, wrapping this little family in warmth. Damari brought his full four-year-old energy: giggles, curiosity, and a grin that could melt anyone. He played, danced, and showed off his personality in front of the camera, while Ally and Tre couldn’t stop smiling at how much he’s grown.
The beauty of this session goes deeper than the photos themselves. Ally has shared with me how much family pictures mean to her — especially after losing her father to illness a few years ago. Not having many photos of him makes each captured moment with her own family even more precious. Every frame we created that day carried a quiet weight — a reminder of how important it is to document love while we can.
