💜 My Best Friend’s Wedding: Photographing Mikaela & Harry Bennett’s Elegant Idaho Falls Celebration 💜

Bride and groom in formal attire enjoy drinks in a bar with a colorful backdrop of wine and beer bottles, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

Some weddings are special because of the location.

Some because of the details.

And some because you’re standing at the altar next to your best friend… before sprinting off to grab your camera. 😅📸

Mikaela and Harry Bennett’s wedding was all of that and more.

I had the absolute honor (and chaos-filled joy) of being both a bridesmaid AND the lead photographer for their wedding at The Waterfront at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls, Idaho — and it’s a day I’ll never forget.

Rows of seated guests at outdoor wedding ceremony, adorned with red floral arrangements, greenery, under a blue sky with white clouds.

🍷 An Elegant Color Palette & Thoughtful Details

From the moment I arrived, everything felt elevated and intentional.

The color palette was rich and romantic — deep purples, burgundy, wine tones, and touches of gold — giving the entire day a timeless, elegant feel. ✨🍇

Every detail felt like them: warm, inviting, and effortlessly classy.

🐾 Zara & Lala: The Real Stars of the Wedding

No Mikaela + Harry wedding would be complete without their dogs.

Their poodle Zara and schnauzer Lala were part of the day, and honestly? They stole hearts immediately. 🐶💛

Seeing their pups included made the day feel even more personal — because their love story includes muddy paws, happy tails, and a whole lot of joy.

💍 Wearing Two Hats: Bridesmaid & Photographer

Being a bridesmaid and the lead photographer is not for the faint of heart.

Five women in dresses stand with their backs to the camera, arms around each other. The setting is outdoors, conveying a celebratory mood.

One minute I was fixing Mikaela’s dress, the next I was checking memory cards and lining up shots.

But photographing your best friend’s wedding hits differently.

I wasn’t just documenting a wedding — I was preserving memories for someone who means the world to me.

😂 The Fall Heard ‘Round the Wedding

At one point during the wedding, everyone lined up for a big group photo.

I climbed onto the stage to get the shot… and when I jumped down?

I fell. Hard. 😭😂

And of course — my backup photographer caught the entire thing on camera.

A large group at a celebration, people smiling at the camera. A person in a wedding dress and child in pink stand out. Festive atmosphere.

It’s now one of my favorite images from the day because it perfectly sums up the energy: real, unfiltered, and full of laughter.

🎥 A Wedding Video from the Heart

In addition to photography, I also created a wedding video for Mikaela and Harry.

Watch the video here! (There's something great at the end 🤗)

Being able to tell their story through both stills and motion felt incredibly meaningful — especially knowing how much these memories will matter to them in the years to come.

🍺 Post-Ceremony Portraits at Tap-N-Fill

After the ceremony, we switched gears and headed to Tap-N-Fill, their favorite beer bar, for formal portraits. 🍻It was relaxed, fun, and so them — proof that wedding photos don’t have to happen in traditional places to be meaningful.

The mix of elegant attire and casual vibes made for some of my favorite images of the entire day.

✨ A Day Full of Love (and One Very Tired Photographer)

This wedding was emotional, elegant, chaotic, joyful, and absolutely unforgettable.

People in a limo smiling and holding drinks under bright, patterned ceiling lights. The mood is joyful and relaxed. Monochrome image.

By the end of the night, I was completely exhausted — the kind of tired that only comes from

pouring your whole heart into something.

But I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Mikaela and Harry, thank you for trusting me with your memories, for laughing through the chaos, and for letting me stand beside you in every sense of the word. 💜

📸 Final Thoughts

This wedding reminded me why I love what I do — even when it means falling off a stage, juggling multiple roles, and ending the night sore and smiling.

Because these moments?

They’re worth everything.
