🤍 When Family Doesn’t Fit One Box (And That’s the Best Part)

Family looks different for everyone—and that’s something I genuinely love documenting.
This session was with my mother-in-law’s family, and it was a beautiful mix of:
• her kids
• her husband’s kids from previous marriages
• grandkids
• significant others
In other words: a full family. The kind that’s grown, layered, and built through years of love and change.

🍁 Fall in Logan Canyon Is Always a Yes
We met up in Logan Canyon during peak fall, and it did not disappoint. Golden leaves, crisp air, and that soft mountain light that makes everything feel a little extra magical.
Instead of forcing stiff poses, we leaned into movement—walking, laughing, and letting everyone just be themselves. The canyon gave us space to spread out, relax, and enjoy the time together.
🌊 River Shenanigans (And One Unexpected Swim)
At one point, we wandered down by the river—and that’s when things got even more fun.
Everyone was laughing, messing around, skipping rocks… and then my sister-in-law’s boyfriend slipped straight into the water. Fully soaked. One side of his body absolutely drenched. 😅

From that moment on, the session turned into a very strategic game of:
✔ posing him just right
✔ hiding the soaked side
✔ laughing every time someone almost gave it away
Honestly? It just added to the memory.
📸 Why These Sessions Matter So Much
Extended and blended family sessions can feel intimidating—but they’re some of the most meaningful to look back on.
These photos aren’t about perfection.
They’re about:
🤍 showing up
🤍 laughing together
🤍 documenting this version of family
Because families grow. They change. And these moments—river mishaps and all—won’t happen the same way again.

✨ Final Thoughts
This session was loud, chaotic, joyful, and full of connection. Exactly how family photos should feel.
If you’ve been putting off family photos because your family doesn’t look “traditional,” let this be your sign: that’s exactly why you should do them.
📍 Logan Canyon & beyond
Real life welcome. 🤍
