❤️ When the Original Vision Changes
This session started with one bold idea:
Monotone red.
Rich. Striking. Intentional.
We planned to bring that vision to life at Tunnel Springs Park — letting the dramatic color contrast against the rolling Utah hills.
But once we arrived and saw the landscape in real time, something shifted.
The red felt louder than the setting wanted.
The hills felt softer. Moodier. Earthier.
So instead of forcing the original concept, we let it evolve 🤍
And that’s where the magic really started.

🤎 Leaning Into Neutrals
We shifted into warm browns and layered neutrals — keeping small highlights of red woven intentionally throughout.
The tones suddenly felt cinematic.
Grounded.
Textural.
Timeless.
Instead of competing with the landscape, the styling blended into it. The hills almost felt European in their softness, and the palette leaned into that quiet drama.
It stopped being about making a statement and started being about telling a story.
🪑 Bringing Pieces of Home Outdoors
One of my favorite details from this session?
The chair and rug came straight from Marin’s own home.
Personal pieces.
Familiar textures.
A lived-in feel.
There’s something incredibly grounding about incorporating items that already belong to someone. It transforms an open hillside into something intimate.
The setup didn’t feel overly styled or rented. It felt intentional. Like a scene paused in the middle of a novel.
📚 The Dark Academia Shift

Somewhere between the wind, the texture of the rug, and the depth of the browns, the shoot naturally leaned into dark academia.
Moody tones.
Structured posture
.Soft movement in the wind.
A quiet confidence.
It wasn’t dramatic in an obvious way. It was subtle. Refined. Thoughtful.
The kind of session that feels less like a trend and more like a mood.
🤍 First Time Working One-on-One
This was my first time working one-on-one with Marin (@mamma_long_legs), and there’s something different about individual collaboration.
There’s more room to:– Experiment– Pivot– Adjust in real time– Build trust
Without the pressure of sticking rigidly to a pre-set theme, we were able to create something that felt more aligned than the original concept.
Sometimes the best creative work happens when you release control just a little.

🍂 What This Session Reminded Me
Not every vision needs to stay fixed.
Sometimes the landscape guides you.
Sometimes the light shifts the mood.
Sometimes restraint is more powerful than boldness.
What began as monotone red turned into layered neutrals and dark academia softness — and it felt exactly right.
Utah locations like Tunnel Springs have this quiet versatility. They can hold bold color, or they can cradle something understated.
This time, understated won.
And I wouldn’t change it.
📍 Utah Creative Portrait Photographer
Styled and creative sessions like this are why I love photographing in Utah.
Whether you’re envisioning something bold and dramatic or soft and cinematic, I’m always open to building something intentional and evolving it together 🤍
Creativity isn’t about forcing a vision.
It’s about listening to what the moment wants to become.
