One of the greatest joys of being a photographer is getting to grow with the families I capture — and Kaia’s family holds such a special place in my heart. I've been photographing this sweet girl for years, watching her personality blossom alongside her age.

This year’s birthday shoot? Something magical. We headed out to the Mantua Poppy Field — one of the most breathtaking backdrops Utah has to offer — for a session that was bursting with color, life, and Kaia being Kaia (i.e. sassy).

🎈 Celebrating Milestones with Meaning

Each year, Kaia’s mom and I collaborate to make her birthday session feel special, true to her stage of life, and filled with personality. At this point, Kaia knows how to work the camera — but not because she’s trying to pose or perform. She’s just comfortable, joyful, and free to be herself.

This year’s poppy-filled session felt like the perfect metaphor: vibrant, growing, beautiful — and just a little bit wild in the best way.

If you’ve never visited Mantua, Utah in late spring or early summer, add it to your list. The poppy field comes alive with bright reds and greens, creating the dreamiest setting for portraits. It’s a short window when the poppies bloom, but it’s so worth the wait.
