Alien-Inspired Editorial Shoot at Big Lake Cave, Arizona

Tired Feet, Moody Light, and Out-of-This-World Concepts
By the time we made it to Big Lake Cave in Page, Arizona, everyone was starting to feel the miles — and the sand. This was the fourth shoot of the day during the Salt Lake City Inspired and Eternal West Editorial retreat, and the exhaustion was real. Some people straight up napped in the sand between shots, and I got a surprise blast of sand in my eye that had me shooting one-eyed for a while. Glamorous, right?

Alien Dreams & Cosmic Chaos
Despite the fatigue, the vibe of this shoot was unreal — literally. We explored themes like:
Alien aesthetics with metallics and chrome
Sparkle-covered fashion that caught the fading light
A desert couple session with dreamy motion
A dramatic storm looming in the distance

The cave’s rocky texture created depth and contrast against the smooth styling. The hike to get here wasn’t easy — a steep, sandy climb with heavy gear and lots of tourists to work around. But the drama in the sky, combined with the surreal styling, made it feel like we’d landed on another planet.
